Tiered seats circling the stage are flexible in its use, so the seating area can be transformed into a stage. Artists can break the boundary between auditorium and stage. It is an unusual and exceptional space in which the whole auditorium can magically become the stage, furthermore, the whole theater becomes the stage and story itself.
The close distance between auditorium and stage provides intimacy and excellent acoustics for a medium-sized theater. The unique stage and seating structure, side stage, bridge, and other stage machinery add to distinctive.
Namsan Arts Center brings together form, artist, and audience of the next generation, based on its unique program oriented towards the young, contemporary producing theater with a sense of reality.
By concluding partnership with major international theaters which share identical insights and aesthetic values, such as the German Schaubuehne which is famous for actual and radical productions, it will enhance international exchanges in the field of performing arts.
Furthermore, Namsan Arts Center plans to have international contemporary theater exchange programs, inviting overseas directors to stage original Korean plays and to introduce contemporary foreign theater texts as a new material in Korea.
Namsan Arts Center is a multi-purpose cultural space consisted by a professional theater and arts education center for performing arts, with artistic productions and education for the citizens of Seoul. It plans to provide outstanding performances and art education programs for citizens of Seoul.
